Recording from Any Audio Source

Another name of call logger is audio logger. This means that as long as you have an audio signal, it can be recorded. Other than the normal phone system, we have done installations of our loggers with walkie-talkies (UHF wireless radio), intercom systems, radio programs, microphone, etc.

At times when the audio signal is too weak for the logger’s Automatic Gain Control to boost to a relatively loud level, we also supply audio amplifier.

When recording from audio source, you have to know if the audio source will be continuous (example radio programs) or non-continuous (example walkie-talkies). For continuous audio source, you will need to configure the maximum recording length to 30 minutes for example. This will cause the logger to cut each recording up to 30 minutes files so that you don’t end up with a super huge file that is very difficult to playback or manage.

Low Cost Call Center Alternatives

The low cost alternative which is easiest to implement, and have the most features would be a hosted contact center service. However, trade-offs would be privacy and its dependency on the internet.

The next low cost alternative which is easy to implement but not as features filled would be your own direct lines based call center. By connecting 5 analog lines (for a 5 seat call center) to 5 modems + phones, you can cheaply achieve Screen Pop and some features using low cost software that runs on modems. Of course this is not for everyone because your agents need to off-hook the phone when they go for a break as there are no logon logoff function in this setup.

Third alternative would be to study the possibility of purchasing a new phone system together with ACD, etc functions that gives you most value, and connecting it to your existing phone system or as a stand-alone operation.

Fourth alternative would be to study the possibility of getting a good vendor who can help you setup an open source PBX and after that provide you with the support you need. However, this vendor or an IT vendor may then be required to help you do whatever customizations or reports that is missing.

Comparing the third and fourth alternative, both might end up with the same costs if too much customization is required on the open source system.
